Sound Summit 2026 Artists Announced: Father John Misty, Guster, Talking Heads’ Jerry Harrison Headline

There are few settings for live music as striking as the Mountain Theater in Mount Tamalpais State Park. On September 12th, the annual Sound Summit returns to the historic venue, bringing together a multigenerational lineup led by eccentric singer-songwriter Father John Misty, alternative rockers Guster, and Talking Heads co-founder Jerry Harrison, who will present his “50 Years of Talking Heads” project.

This year’s bill includes surf-noir psych-rock band La Luz and Bay Area funk group Angeline Saris & The Snack Machine. Returning hosts Brian Murphy and Paul McCaffrey, the longtime KNBR duo known as “Murph & Mac,” will emcee alongside KPFA’s Dead to the World host, Tim Lynch. Vetiver’s Andy Cabic will serve as the all-day DJ, setting the tone between performances.

Tickets go on sale Friday, June 12th at 10am.

Held at the 4,000-seat Mountain Theater atop Mount Tamalpais, Sound Summit pairs live music with environmental stewardship. Produced by Roots & Branches Conservancy, the nonprofit festival has raised more than $300,000 over the past decade to support Mount Tamalpais State Park. Funds have helped advance trail restoration, historic preservation, fire prevention, water conservation, visitor services, and emergency preparedness.

Ahead of the inaugural event in 2015, founder and architect Michael Nash spoke with us about the festival’s origins and its mission to support the mountain’s long-term preservation. The milestone 10th anniversary edition last year featured performances by CAKE and Canadian alt-pop band Alvvays.
