whet is a biannual zine dedicated to exhibiting the work of BIPOC artists who identify as women. since 2019, whet has released eight issues featuring the work of over 80 artists working in a variety of mediums across the U.S. and abroad.
with each issue, a new theme is selected and artists are asked to explore where their artwork intersects with the theme of the issue. by encouraging contributors to lean into their own definition and understanding of the subject at hand, whet is able to showcase diverse work from a wide breadth of artists.
whet's ultimate mission is to empower and encourage artists of color who identify as women and offer them a platform for their voices and experiences. it is also intended to be a conduit, a means of connecting a larger readership with art that has true meaning behind it.
