This Friday the Olympics, quite possibly the most controversial Games since 1938, will open in Beijing. We were the only city in the United States to host the torch, and we all know how that went. While the world will be looking towards China, where will we in SF be looking? One thing is for sure, our city by the Bay is a global village with people from all over the world and we are all thankful of our many advantages. After all where else can you see both Dolly Parton at the Greek Theatre and the Air Guitar National Finals at The Grand all in one week? Make sure you celebrate the best SF has to offer at the 34th Annual Best of the Bay Party at 1015 on Thursday night. And if you are in more of a Sin City kind of mood, then the Arigo Recordings Launch Party at Ruby Skye would be right up your alley. Kick up the international good vibes this weekend with the new global music dance party World Town at Roe and Pistahan: Filipino American Arts Exposition at Yerba Buena Gardens. Finally, on Monday, the Zeitgeist Int'l Film Festival at Zeitgeist has its not-to-be missed closing ceremonies.
