"A King has three daughters to whom he's promised presents after returning from war. The youngest daughter asks for Elijah's violin. The King goes to the end of the earth in search of the violin. He finds it but before taking it he must save a princess who has turned to stone." Mads Lynnerup discusses his video installation and the folktales "Elijah's Violin" and "Princess in the Tower."

Mads Lynnerup is an artist and educator, whose practice incorporates video, performance, sculpture, and installation. Lynnerup has an extensive national and international exhibition record and has been included in exhibitions at SFMOMA; The Mori Art Museum, Tokyo; P.S. 1, New York; Zacheta National Gallery of Art, Warsaw; Los Angeles County Museum of Art, (LA); and Kunsthalle Fridericianum, Kassel, Germany to mention a few. He is a Eureka Fellowship recipient as well as an Artadia and Toby Devan Lewis Award winner.

Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Jewish Folktales Retold: Artist as Maggid.
