Interested in Japanese Kabuki and Bunraku theatre? Join us for a special class focusing on a video of the classic Kabuki dance play, "The Returning Palanquin," and two scenes from the famous Bunraku puppet play, "Sugawara's Secrets of Calligraphy": "Sweet Words on the Journey" and "The Shore at Yasui."
"The Returning Palanquin" features three rising Kabuki stars showing off their dancing skills (synopsis). The two scenes from "Sugawara" give us an opportunity to see the wonderful Bunraku puppet drama tradition in action (synopsis). (In Japanese with English subtitles or translation).
Class is free and open to the public. Feel free to bring snacks. All ages welcome!
