Humanities West presents Norman Sicily: Art & Power in Palermo, a two-day program of lectures, discussions, and musical performances exploring the multi-ethnic clash of 11th century Sicily, emphasizing the Norman influence on art, music, architecture, and politics. The Friday program includes works of Sicilian opera performed by Marie Plette (soprano) and Philip Skinner (bass-baritone), with Bryndon Hassman on piano, and the Saturday program features a special lecture/performance of troubadour music by early music specialist Tim Rayborn.
