Thanksgiving at San Francisco Restaurants for Less Than $60

Several San Francisco restaurants are open for Thanksgiving, providing an option for those who want to forgo a potentially expensive, messy and stressful holiday meal. With reasonable prix fixe and a la cart menu options, Thanksgiving can be affordable and easy for those who want to leave the cooking to the pros.

Tommy’s Joynt

With turkey dinner always on the menu, it feels like Thanksgiving everyday at Tommy’s Joynt, but that doesn’t stop an annual pilgrimage of visitors who lineup for a warm meal near the holiday each year. The quintessential San Francisco cafeteria-style eatery serves turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, veggies and salad for just $9.25 with an impressive beer and no-frills cocktail list to match.

1300 Fillmore Chef David Lawrence’s special Thanksgiving prix fixe meal puts a Southern twist on Thanksgiving with oven-roasted Willie Bird turkey, maple syrup slow braised beef short ribs, pan roasted crispy skin salmon or fried sage roasted acorn squash faro for entrees. $59 per person, $28 for children under 12 years old.

Butterfly
PIER 33, THE EMBARCADERO
Butterfly offers Thanksgiving with a view on San Francisco’s waterfront. Chef Robert Lam’s four-course Thanksgiving menu features salt baked Diestel turkey breast, turkey leg confit or lop cheong fried brown sticky rice for $55 per person throughout Thanksgiving day.

Chili House
726 CLEMENT ST.
A great option for those who aren’t into turkey or want to skip the carb-heavy holiday meal altogether, Chili House in the Richmond District offers an extensive menu of Chinese, Thai, Japanese and Malaysian dishes. Living up to its name, the spice is right with a variety of Sichuan options including beef with flaming chili oil and chicken with explosive chili pepper (pictured above).

Elite Cafe
2049 FILLMORE ST.
Pac Heights neighborhood staple Elite Cafe offers a traditional turkey diner, blackened salmon or smoked Niman Ranch pork loin for entrees with a special $60 prix fixe Thanksgiving dinner. Oysters on a half shell are available to start before the first course of kale and fuji apple salad, roasted pumpkin soup or Bartlette pear carpaccio with prosciutto di parma.

Garcon!
1101 VALENCIA ST.
Garcon! offers a limited a la carte holiday dinner menu with entree specials including pan seared Pacific cod with quinoa ($27.00); duck leg confit with “dirty rice” with hearts and liver, kale, braised carrots and natural jus ($29.00); Mary’s Farm turkey with molasses glazed breast meat, ballottine of leg meat, sweet potatoes sautéed kale with cranberry, mushroom stuffing and poultry jus ($28.00); and more.

Le Colonial

Le Colonial will serve its regular menu open with chef’s specials offering a French-Vietnamese twist for the holiday, including Soup Bi (roasted kabocha, tomato, leeks soup with Dungeness crab meat), Xoi Nuoc (soft glutinous dumplings filled with pumpkin paste), Xoi Don Ga Rut Xuong (boneless Cornish Hen stuffed with sticky rice). Dinner is served starting at 4pm with last reservations at 9:3opm. Swing Fever will perform upstairs in the lounge from 7pm to 10pm.

Le P’tit Laurent
699 CHENERY ST.
Le P’tit Laurent’s menu in Glen Park features a prix fixe menu for $39 with tradition dishes including roast turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, pumpkin pie and a complementary glass of champagne with dessert. The restaurant’s regular a la cart menu will also be available from 12pm to 8pm.

Palio D’Asti
640 SACRAMENTO ST.
Financial District Italian restaurant Palio D’Asti offers a prix fixe four-course menu for $59 for adults and children under 10 pay their age. Main course options include braised and roasted turkey, pumpkin ravioli, Brussels sprouts, and grilled New York steak.

Urban Tavern
333 O’FARRELL ST.
Urban Tavern serves a four-course family style menu for $44 for adults and $15 for children under 12. Menu items include butternut squash soup or salad, a main course of turkey with mashed potatoes and gravy, mushroom stuffing, Brussels sprouts, roasted pumpkin and cranberry sauce..

Beach Chalet

On San Francisco’s western waterfront, Beach Chalet offers a prix fixe three-course menu: $43 for adults, $19 for children under 12. Main course options include traditional turkey with mashed potatoes and Blue Lake green beans; pan-roasted salmon with crushed potatoes and apple-fennel salad; grilled filet with baked russet potato gratin; cider-cured pork chop with shaved Brussels sprouts; or pumpkin and three cheese ravioli.
