The Del Sol Quartet has a world premiere multimedia event In collaboration with San Francisco's first ever Poet Laureate of Chinese American heritage - Genny Lim. The performance weaves together stories, poetry, music, dance and visual projections. Timed around the Chinese celebrations of the Mid Autumn Festival (marking the importance of the harvest and the moon) the show builds on traditions of gathering and telling stories about families.
Update: October 19 is also the launch of Genny Lim's new book "Facing the Moon: Songs of the Diaspora" the poetry that was created for the show. It will be available for purchase at the premiere.
"Voices of mothers and daughters across continents and generations anchor this multimedia performance, featuring new poetry by Lim interwoven with new music and interviews by Chinese diaspora composers Vivian Fung, Meilina Tsui, and Theresa Wong. The Del Sol Quartet centers this collaboration, building on their transformative Angel Island work, with a theatrical visual experience by Olivia Ting and Mark Hellar, and dancer Lynn Huang. "
