The Town of Danville's Village Theatre Art Gallery is pleased to partner with the Richmond Art Center as a satellite exhibition space for the RAC's 24th Annual Art of The African Diaspora (previously titled the Art of Living Black). The exhibition will feature the artistic talents of artists who reside in the Bay Area and are of African Descent.
Co-founded by the late Jan Hart-Schuyers and the late Rae Louise Hayward, Art of The African Diaspora is a group exhibition showcasing works of more than 150 artists--the exhibition at the Village Theatre Art Gallery will spotlight a number of these artists. This event is organized by The Art of Living Black Steering Committee in partnership with the Richmond Art Center. The Steering Committee is a dedicated group of established Bay Area artists touched by the vision of founders Jan Hart-Shuyers and Rae Louise Hayward. The group's mission is to preserve and expand the vision of their beloved founders by supporting emerging, mid-career and established artists of African descent.
The exhibition dates are January 16 through February 29. There is a soft opening set for Thursday, January 16 with a film screening and Q & Session with local film maker, Cheryl Fabio's, multi award winning documentary film Evolutionary Blues about West Oakland's Music Legacy.
