StARTup Art Fair, Plus Creativity Explored Non-Profit Accepting Art Supply Donations for SF Design Week Project

Creativity and art are bursting at the seams this month in San Francisco, but we can all agree this is a common occurrence here. So much so that some events offer events within events. For example, In/Visible Talks is offering two events with the non-profit art center Creativity Explored, as part of the 4th Annual stARTup Art Fair. During the three days of the stARTup Art Fair, from April 27-29, In/Visible will be jointly collecting art supplies to donate to the Creativity Explored artists for an art show happening this June at SF Design Week.

Creativity Explored is a non-profit art center that gives artists with developmental disabilities the means to create and share their work with the community. These artists have created, exhibited, and sold their art for the past 35 years through this non-profit.

Stop by Hotel Del Sol to peruse the many hotel rooms, each converted into art galleries; as well as the artist performances, installations and panel discussions throughout the Fair. Through In/Visible Salons, discussion and networking opportunities are scheduled throughout the year. On April 29th, Dava Guthmiller, Artist/Founder of In/Visible Talks will moderate, “Creativity Can Come From Anywhere.” For this salon, In/Visible joins with Creativity Explored to decipher the motivations that underlie outsider artists.

Creativity Explored’s art supply wish list can be found here. Monetary donations are also welcomed. Be sure to indicate, “In/Visible Talks Materials Drive.”

While you’re at the Hotel Del Sol to drop off your donations, it will difficult to bypass the stARTup Art Fair itself. For sure, you won’t want to miss the Opening Night party on Friday April 27 from 7–10pm. The open-air atmosphere fills with music, performances, and food and drink by Jane, Humboldt Distillery, and Relic Wines. Over the three days, the quaint Hotel Del Sol transforms its hotel rooms into individual galleries for over 60 artists. Be sure to also check out more of the Fair’s Art Conversations and Special Projects series. A portion of all ticket sales will benefit the non-profit org, Root Division.
