Bacon and Beer Festival Moves to Oakland

Co-hosted by Bison Organic Beer, Eat Boston and Oakland Grown, the Oakland Bacon and Beer Festival is a one-day event with gourmet bites from more than two dozen Bay Area chefs paired with craft beer samples from 25 local breweries.

Inspired by the success of last year’s San Francisco Bacon and Beer Festival, organizers are moving across the bay on March 9 with proceeds going to Oakland Grown, a Sustainable Business Alliance program that aims to promote local economy and community.

For $40 a ticket festival-goers at Jack London Square can try bacon-based small plates from the likes of Grease Box, Lungomare and Boca Nova. The beer list includes local favorites like Speakeasy Ales and Lagers, Sierra Nevada and Pyramid Brewing Co.

Examples of Oakland Grown members giving back include Berkeley’s Bison Brewing growing hops in Oakland community gardens for a limited edition beer that benefits Victory Garden and artisanal charcuterie Zoe’s Meats partnering with local schools to set up gardens and programs geared toward teaching sustainability and healthful eating.
