Outside Lands Advances Mobile Payments at Festivals with PayPal Integration
In attempt to solve common music festival pain points, Outside Lands Music Festival sought help from PayPal this year to provide enhanced mobile payment options for numerous on-site amenities.
Keeping track of a physical wallet and always having cash while bouncing from stage to stage at music festivals can be a tough task for festival-goers. Using the PayPal Here mobile app and card reader on iPads, Outside Lands attendees could purchase from popular food vendors such as Blue Bottle Coffee and Tacolicious. Anyone in search of a place to stow newly acquired concert posters and other valuables could rent a locker for the weekend through PayPal, as well. At the company’s exhibition booth, visitors could stop by their general store to pick-up items like ponchos and blankets to stay warm, chapstick to combat cotton mouth, and sunscreen despite the frequently grey, foggy weather, all purchase at PayPal-enabled check-stands.
In addition to mobile payments, Outside Lands organizers also premiered a 24-hour mobile app hackathon this year to further enhance the festival experience.
