Long live lo-fi! Young Mammals keep it real with new “Landlady” single and Noise Pop showcase.

Young Mammals from Houston, Texas began in a bedroom in 2004 where brothers Carlos and Jose Sanchez would gather with Cley Miller and jam. Fast-forward 8 years and Young Mammals aint so young anymore, nor are they jamming in a bedroom, drummerless and unknown. Taking SXSW and CMJ by storm, the band played to capacity crowds at both festivals and released their debut Carrots in 2010, which received glowing reviews. After three tours to support the release and building up a loyal fan base, Young Mammals are back with a follow-up. Landlady b/w Optometrist (out March 10 on Bombs By Mail Records) is an over-too-soon, bombastic low-fi mainline to the heart and soul of everything that is still good and relevant about diy pop music today. It drips sincerity, passion and rawness while maintaining a tight grasp on taste and moderation. Think Frank Black mixed with Miniature Tigers with a dash of Grizzly Bear thrown in for good measure. Then think about heading over for their showcase at the 20^th Annual Noise Pop Festival, after all, aren’t we all young mammals at heart?

Young Mammals play Café du Nord Saturday, February 25. Doors are at 7pm, show starts at 8, tickets are $15 and this is an all ages event. Great Apes open, followed by Young Mammals, Jonah Matranga and Christie Front Drive headline.
