Web Development for Artists 101 will be an introduction to fundamental programming techniques for artists looking to jump into the world of creative coding. Students will learn basic programming concepts through a series of short exercises, discussions, and a culminating final project. Software practices will be introduced in artistic context to examine how and why contemporary artists choose to use software, and how software written by artists is used and shared. The course will also cover good programming practices and open source ideologies.
Students will leave this course having completed a work of creative code and with basic web skills.
There are no skill level requirements for this course. All materials are included in the workshop price. Workshops are non-refundable.
What You Will Learn
A working understanding of the relationship between HTML / CSS & JS
Understanding of web editors and plugins dynamic web pages.
The process of debugging your code and where to find support
How to use git and iterate a group code project both virtually and in person
How to create an artwork in javascript, how to host your artwork, and how to share it.
