Break out the coolers and dust off the picnic blankets, it's finally time for the year's most anticipated music and arts festival: the Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival at Golden Gate Park. We're talking dozens of bands including Radiohead along with locals like Rogue Wave and Lyrics Born. And, just in case you forget that this is the Bay Area, they'll also be wine tastings and gourmet offerings from top local restaurants. Get ready for the weekend at Herbst Theatre with Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood's "Popcorn Superhet Receiver". However, if the influx of thousands of crazed music fans makes you want to run for the hills, then get out of town for the weekend and catch Steely Dan at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga. Tickets to the fest in the park don't come cheap, and if paying three hundred bucks isn't your game, then the Rock Make Street Festival in Mission, featuring free music, is this weekend's best (and cheapest) alternative. Get your earplugs - it's going to be a loud weekend!

"San Francisco's enigmatically named Wooden Shjips play a minimal, droning kind of garage band-influenced phychedelia with a noticeable '60s Drautrock influence. Almost unintelligible vocals slip beneath the waves of throbbing minimal rhythms while fuzz tone guitar and shrieking organ freak-outs jump to the foreground and draw you into their primal vortex." - allmusic.com
