SF Station Blows It Up

1. Young Jeezy @ KMEL's Block Party presented by Lawman Promotions, Oakland, August 7, 2008

Last Thursday night KMEL threw a little block party and invited some close friends to entertain the guests. I was in the in crowd and got a chance to have some fun…With a line-up like Lloyd, The Dream, Trey Songs, Rick Ross, Ne-Yo, Young Jeezy and T-Pain rocking this sold out show, it was something to see. From Ne-Yo’s smooth and sexy tunes that made the girls faint to Young Jeezy's surprise appearance which made the 11k+ crowd get out of their seats, this was a hell of a show.

2. The Enemy @ Popscene, San Francisco, August 7, 2008

One of the UK’s biggest bands, The Enemy, graced the stage at Popscene and brought the house down. These boys made the place shake and my feet move, as songs like "We'll Live and Die in These Towns" and many more rang out. I now know another place that can birth some great music: Coventry, UK.

3. Hot Lixx Hulahan @ US Air guitar Championships, The Grand, San Francisco, August 5, 2008

We have a winner and its SF's own Hot Lixx Hulahan who last Friday night took the US Air Guitar Championships by storm. The field of 24 contestants was hard-core, and included last year's winner William Ocean, Minneapolis' Airosol, NYC's Shreddy Mercury to the other SF kid Awesome. Although there were amazing performances from all the participants -- William Ocean's surf board ride through the crowed to Airosol's acrobatics -- nothing compared to what I call the pièce de résistance by Hot Lixx. The man broke his thumb in the prelims and still came out taped up to do the final round. From his first strum of the air guitar I knew it was greatness, but the clincher was his double front flip into the crowd while strumming; I can't even use enough words to describe it.
