The Yoga Of Bass

SEE EVENT DETAILS
June 22nd 2-5pm
Earth Tribe is very happy to announce that we will host
THE YOGA OF BASS - Music, Ecstasy and Freedom -
a workshop featuring international DJ/Producer FreQ Nasty and Claire Thompson! This 3 hour event combines discussion and yoga philosophy with yoga and free movement, set to a live dub and bass-oriented DJ set by Atmaspheric, FreQ's downtempo alter-ego.

This event will take place the day after our summer solstice celebration SOL and will be an extension of it! Those who purchase tickets to this event will receive a discount ticket to SOL!

The Yoga of Bass is a series of workshops led by Darin McFadyen and Claire Thompson which look at the parallels between the ecstatic, life-changing experiences people have on the dance floor with music, and the peak states of meditation as experienced on the path of Yoga.

Using personal and musical examples from their lives as DJ, singer, meditation teachers and Yogis alongside explanations from the foundational texts of Yoga and Buddhism they explore how a yogic and spiritual practice can help you bring this feeling of ecstasy, unity and inter-connectedness off the dance floor and into your life.

Then we put these ideas into motion as Claire leads a vibrant yoga asana and free movement class weaving in themes from the talk, all set to a specially sculpted, bass-oriented DJ set by FreQ's downtempo alter-ego, Atmaspheric.

Claire and Darin have offered “The Yoga of Bass” presentation in the United States, Canada, England and Australia at yoga studios, art spaces, dance clubs, and music festivals including Wanderlust Yoga Festival, Lightning in a Bottle, Glade Festival UK, Eclipse 2012 Australia, and Symbiosis. Together they have studied the great texts of Yoga and Buddhism with their teacher Venerable Sumati Marut and the Yoga Studies Institute, and perform with their band the Dub Kirtan All Stars (www.dubkirtan.com). Claire has trained at Exhale in Los Angeles with Hala Khouri and Julian Walker, as well as practicing massage therapy for 14 years, while Darin has practiced Yoga in the Satyananda lineage for 13 years.
