Aaron Axelsen, host of LIVE 105's program director and host of the station's weekly new-music showcase, Soundcheck, has called the Trims' song, "Now You're Gone," one of the best local songs he's heard so far this year. He's not wrong. The song is on the group's new EP, Vida. Since their inception in 2010, San Jose's Trims have moved from dark atmospheric guitar-driven post-punk to indie-dance-rock territory, getting better with each release. Vida has the best of everything from the Trims arsenal: disco beats, dark waves of guitar reverb and poppy vocals. It's like Stokes meets Joy Division meets the Killers. (Aaron Carnes)
