If the punk movement had preceded the blues, then every guitar-slinging band would sound like the UK's Jim Jones Revue. They are raw, loud, dangerous, and have an infectious boogie woogie shuffle in a Jerry Lee Lewis kind of way. But the rambling pianos are backed with blasts of proto-punk guitars and cymbal-crashing percussion-part Stooges and part Paul Revere and the Raiders. Jim Jones screams like an unhinged Little Richard. His multi-dimensional live show incorporates a professional showmanship with nice suits, cool hairdos and rehearsed poses, alongside a punk rock madness with its all out anything-can-happen, hyper energetic anarchy to it.
