THE BREVET, The Jack Mosbacher Band, Embleton

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Passion brought The Brevet together, and it defines their music. Their very name represents a Civil War rank awarded to individuals who went above and beyond the call of duty without the expectation of extra monetary compensation. In other words, The Brevet traditionally act out of their passion for and dedication to music. That spirit courses through their songs, and it’s the reason why they’ve quietly built a palpable national buzz.

“Jack Mosbacher is a star on the rise.” –San Francisco Chronicle

Jack Mosbacher is an independent recording and performing artist based in San Francisco. His sound spans the gulf between the full-throated soul of Sam Cooke and Solomon Burke and the big hook sensibility of the modern roots rockers like Elvis Costello and Train. Noted for his high-energy live shows and upbeat tunes that celebrate life and love, Jack has been called “a joyful, exuberant take on the best of pop” by Skope Media and “a great example of how supreme musicianship and composition come together to create an experience that all music fans can – and will – enjoy” by IAE Magazine.

Jack graduated with Honors from Stanford University, where he was a member of the Varsity baseball team. Beyond music, he is passionate about human rights and international justice; his articles on democracy promotion have been featured in Foreign Affairs, The Washington Quarterly, and The Los Angeles Times and have been presented before the Council on Foreign Relations.

Few singers, these days, resonate with that old kind of earnestness like Kevin Embleton. It’s a passion and a yearning buried deep in the dusty vinyl collections of your parent’s neglected basement. Embleton reaches back to the melodies of classic American pop and weaves them into dynamic and arresting songs. Backed by the Americana swagger of a hometown collective, Embleton’s music breathes like a west coast wind. Embleton released their first LP, an Americana-infused collection of porch swing rock tunes, titled It Did Me Well in March, 2015. The album was mostly recorded live, in an old living room in the heart of Canton, Ohio.
