April 11 through May 9; Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 12:00-5:00 p.m.; Saturday 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
The Harrington Gallery's Grand Atrium Lobby exhibition space will play host to two large-scale yet complex paintings by Brazilian-American artist Talita Suassuna, on display from April 11 through May 9.
The installation is open to the public during regular gallery hours: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 12:00-5:00 p.m.; Saturday 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.; and an hour before performances. The Harrington Gallery is located inside the Firehouse Arts Center, 4444 Railroad Avenue in Pleasanton, California.
Talita Suassuna's work "deals with the relationships between faith and cultural identity. I use symbols from such diverse realms as Afro-Brazilian culture and pseudoscience and join them in the space of my work." She notes that art fulfills a critical role for herself, "providing powerful connection to my cultural identity and transformation."
Originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil, Suassuna now lives and paints in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is currently a resident of Pleasanton, and recently received a BFA (Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts) from California College of the Arts.
Talita has previously shown locally at both the juried Harrington Gallery Fresh Works Exhibit and at Studio 7 Gallery.
