Symphony Silicon Valley Chinese New Year's Concert

Symphony Silicon Valley, in collaboration with Stanford Pan-Asian Music Festival and the Pacific Arts and Culture Exchange, will perform a program to celebrate the Chinese New Year - The Year of Rooster.

Chinese New Year is the most celebrated cultural festival across China and the sprit of the festival has spread all over America and throughout the world. This performance by Symphony Silicon Valley, conducted by Jindong Cai, is part the Stanford Pan-Asian Music Festival, and will be the highlight of many festivities in the Chinese community around the Bay Area. With world-renowned soloists from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, this concert promises to be the best Chinese New Year Concert in the Bay Area!

Shanghai is the cradle of Western classical music in China. Our musical journey will take you from the first orchestral work ever written by a Chinese composer, to the most famous violin concerto “Butterfly Lovers,” to a Peking opera created during the Cultural Revolution, and to new compositions by 21st century Chinese composers.
