Monterey Bay's First Country Music Festival "Summer Struck" Comes to The Monterey County Fairgrounds with County Star Jason Michael Carroll Headlining.

For the first time in Monterey County History, Country Music Fans Have a Festival to Call Their Own, As Summer Kicks-Off with "Summer Struck," Monterey Bay's Country Music Festival

Dust off your cowboy boots and dig-out that cowboy hat early this year, as the Monterey County Fairgrounds hosts the first county music festival of its kind. On Sunday, June 16, 2013, headlining act Jason Michael Carroll, along with four up and coming country artists, will rock the fairgrounds with summer soaked country sounds.

Jason Michael Carroll, a North Carolina native, will perform his chart hitting country songs on the Payton Garden Stage. Carroll's country music career has produced five singles that have hit the Top 40 Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart. Carroll's top 10 Billboard hits: "Alyssa Lies" and "Livin' Our Love Song," garnered fans worldwide, while top 25 Billboard hits such as "Where I'm From," "Hurry Home" and "I Can Sleep When I'm Dead," won the hearts of avid country listeners. More impressively, Carroll's 2007 album "Waitin' In The Country" received the honor of No. 1 on Billboard Top Country Album Chart and sold nearly a half of a million copies.

With a repertoire of hit songs, along with his feverishly good looks, Carroll has developed a following of both new country fans and traditional country fans alike. He is now gearing up to release his new single "Close Enough," which is scheduled to be released in June, 2013 with a live DVD being released in the later part of the year. A consummate songwriter, Carroll remains humble and optimistic about the future, stating, "I don't take for granted what I'm doing, and I thank God and my fans every day I have the chance to keep doing it."

A great day for families, as this country music event lands on Father's Day. Festival promoters ADA Event Services, along with Salinas native, Morgan Taylor are providing a Summer Struck Father's Day Special, by offering children ten and under a free entrance. "Of course we want to encourage families and their Father's to share their special day with us, so this Special is for them. We can't imagine a better way to spend Father's Day than lounging on the grass, under the sun, with your wife and kids while listening to great country music; and we hope the families of our community agree," said festival promoter Morgan Taylor.

Along with the four other up and coming artists on the bill, Buck Ford is an enigma all on his own. An accomplished Honda sponsored motocross racer and a Vacaville, California native, Ford had to make the tough choice of following his motorcycle career, or following his passion for country music. In 2009, the singer/ songwriter decided to dive into his music career full time and leave the dirt behind him. Since Ford crossed that road, he has shared the stage with such country greats as Easton Corbin, Jason Michael Carroll, Steve Azar, Steel Magnolia, and Mark Chestnut to name a few. Additionally, Austin Hanks is an accomplished country rock singer/songwriter who intertwines a bit of blues that is most impressive. Hanks has opened for bands like Blues Traveler, Black Crowes, ZZ Top, Jack Ingram, Gary Allen, Allman Brothers, Trace Atikins, Ted Nugent, Lynard Skynard and Bad Company. His songs are packed with full-body sounds and twangy country soul.

Rising country stars, Mehrten Drive, along with the exceptional male and female country duo American Young (currently produced by Lee Brice) will also perform during this full day of country goodness filled with live music, delicious food, plenty of vendors, beer, wine and good ole' country fun.
The Monterey and Salinas areas are known for their rich agriculture communities and for having notoriety when it comes to housing packed country events such as the California Rodeo Salinas, Monterey Cowboy Festival, Monterey National Horseshow, the Monterey County Fair and one-off concerts such as Trace Adkins, Lee Brice and many others. Summer Struck Festival and its promoters are honored to call the Monterey County Fairgrounds their new home.

Please note: a portion of ticket proceeds will benefit YOSAL, the Youth Orchestra of Salinas, a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping children off the streets and out of gangs by introducing them to an orchestral family at a young age and teaching them to play a variety of instruments.

Tickets are now on sale, with early-bird ticket specials (prior to May 16) set at $20, with gate cost being $25. A limited amount of VIP tickets are available for $40, which includes entrance, a Meet & Greet and photo opportunity (must bring own camera) with Jason Michael Carroll and inside gate parking privileges. Kids 10 and under are free. For more information, please visitwww.SummerStruckFestival.com.
