Formed by singer and vocalist Steve Miller amid the psychedelic scene of late-'60's San Francisco, the Steve Miller Band's early albums were decidedly trippy affairs. By 1973's The Joker , the band had developed a more melodic, radio-friendly sound, and fans responded -- the album became their first solid commercial success, landing at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and going on to sell over one million copies. The group's subsequent output in the mid-'70s resulted in some of the decades biggest hits, including "Rock'n Me," Fly Like an Eagle," and "Abracadabra," earning them a well-deserved place in classic rock history.
