Description

DRAWING WILDERNESSLiesa Lietzke6 sessions >> Saturdays + Sunday, April 6- April 2810:00 am -4:00 pm, Studio 13 + Offsite, $295
Getting outside is one of the best things that can happen to a drawing practice. There is so much more to draw than just landscapes: our areas-of-less-human-impact (parks) are full of the wildest diversity of objects. Textures and shapes we may rarely see in daily life can expand drawing techniques, and can be forgiving subjects for beginners as well as inspiring subjects for experts. Off-campus trips to Mt. Dialblo and Mt.Tamalpais will allow students to gain guided experience of different strategies and techniques for drawing outdoors.
____Liesa Lietzke is a San Francisco Bay Area based artist and educator. Her practice includes drawing and ceramics as well as abstract, often soft-sculptural mixed media work that employs biomorphism across a sweet-to-grotesque range. Lietzke has been exhibited at Deitch Projects Art Parade, Aqua Art Fair Miami Beach, The Oakland Museum of California, The Lab, Krowswork and other venues. Her writing has been published by the Chinese Cultural Center of San Francisco, San Francisco State University Humanities Symposium Journal, and others. Lietzke completed her graduate studies at California College of the Arts, earning a dual degree, MFA in sculpture/MA in Visual and Critical Studies, in 2011.
