Locals Speaker Box Riot drink from a cup of many influences: hip-hop, rock steady, metal, alternative, but nearly every song, regardless of genre, is grounded in an easy, light reggae-infused groove. (This is drummer Rude Boy Mando's contribution. He's the guy tattooed from head to toe, including his face-he's a professional tattoo artist, so it's all part of the job.) The group mixes all these sounds it into a mish-mash of Sublime, Papa Roach and 311. Some of the songs have an angsty '90s nu-metal vibe. Other are just feel-good sunny backyard barbecue jams.
