Join us in-person for a live performance of multimedia video and sound on March 17th with Past and Future Forms, a container for collaborative projects initiated in 2020 by Iranian-born interdisciplinary sound artist Sholeh Asgary and Iraqi scholar and artist Dena A Al-Adeeb.
Reflecting the non-static body within the context of self-defined notions of time as shaped by the geography of foreign policy, crude oil, and water, Past and Future Forms is the result of oral research conducted through a series of community events, and incorporates performance, multimedia video, and sound as mediums to excavate the elusive body across time and space.
Sound and performance artist Leyya Mona Tawil will also present The Gates, a new sound performance work. Tawil uses voice, effects, microphones, light, and raw materials to simultaneously build and obscure a sound and movement scene in real time.
