In 1978, Jon Reed Sims founded the San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band, the first openly gay musical organization in the world. Shortly after, he founded the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus. Since their founding, both musical organizations have paved the way for LGBTQQ+ music groups everywhere. They believe in bringing people together with music, embracing history, and celebrating their progress through the years.
