While he was still in his teens, Salvador Santana co-wrote a Grammy-winning song, "El Farol," with his dad, Carlos, on the senior Santana's platinum album, Supernatural. And like his father, Salvador Santana blends various influences into his sound-the groove of funk, Latin rhythms and brass and the thrumming beats and vocals of hip-hop—but it is a sound all his own. The younger Santana is a keyboardist/pianist as well as composer and vocalist, and the piano anchors the tunes on his newest release, the six-track EP Rise Up. Santana's performance in San Jose will be a fundraiser for San Jose city council district 3 candidate Mauricio Mejia. (Heather Zimmerman)
