Four Bay Area filmmakers will present excerpts of works-in-progress and engage in a panel workshop discussion on a broader sense of Asian American identity and personal stories in documentary films.
Asian American is defined as much by those who identify with it as those who don't - who determines what is considered "Asian" and "American"? How can personal stories in documentaries serve as a way to understand cultural and social issues by humanizing the individuals and families involved? How can we learn from others' lives to inform our own choices, assumptions, and circumstances?
Join us for this film screening and discussion event.
Presented by the Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Center and Re-Present Media.
