Two new Artists have joined the collective of talented Artists at Mare Island Art Studios. Their works will be on exhibit in our main gallery during the month of October, 2025. The reception and exhibit are free to the public.
Susan Noll: Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Susan began creating art before she was old enough for school, guided by her mother who was self taught. From crayons and coloring books she moved onto sketching, pen and ink and various paint mediums. Recently she has been working with acrylic paint markers, pen and ink. Her style has been referred to as expressive figurative.
What stands out most in her art is her bold use of color and whimsy. She believes humor is good for the soul. Her composition and sense of color are strongly governed by her years as a Graphic Designer, having studied communication design/graphic design in the Master Degree program at Pratt Institute in New York.
Rosalyn Parhams (Spiritual Creations by Rosalyn): Roz is a self-taught craftswoman and ceramic artist, deeply rooted in a creative journey. Her work is shaped by spirituality, ceremonial traditions, the metaphysical energy of gemstones, and a reverent relationship with the natural world. Each piece she creates is a spiritual offerinlg--designed to reflect sacred aesthetics and act as a bridge between the physical and the unseen.
Her first introduction to the handmade came through her family, whose creativity brought beauty and purpose to their home and church fundraisers in Newark, New Jersey. That early inspiration led her to study graphic design at the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After moving to California, Rosalyn found her true passion in working with clay. She went on to earn a degree in sculpture and eventually established her own studio in Fairfield.
