Monotypes of Joan Finton

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Bridge Storage and ArtSpace is pleased to present the work of artist Joan Finton. Joan, with the help of curator Jacob Clark, has mounted a very special exhibition of monotypes on leather and paper in the newly renovated office gallery. The show will run through the end of October 2018.

“I was drawn to the organic shapes and bold use of color in these pieces”, commented Jacob Clark. He continued, “They have a quiet and unassuming sensuality not common in printmaking.”

Joan Finton was born in Buffalo, NY and educated at Vassar College and Syracuse University where she received an MFA in Painting. She taught art for many years in NYC high schools. After moving to the Bay Area she continued teaching in facilities for adults with disabilities, and in her home-studio. She is a member of The Blue Bay Press, a small printmakers collaborative, and is a member (and former board member) of The California Society of Printmakers. Inspiration comes at different times from nature, from the world of jazz, and from ruminations on form and color. Her prints are in the collections of The Library of Congress, the Berkeley Art Museum/Pacific Film Archive, as well as numerous private collections. https://www.joanfinton.com

Join us to celebrate Joan’s exhibition on Sunday, September 23rd, from 2pm to 6pm. Browse the art in the main and office galleries. Refreshments will be served. Entertainment in the main gallery courtesy of Steve Hurst, our artist in residence, accompanied by Oakland pianist, Ben Flint.
