Michelle Erickson: Wild Porcelain comprises three cases in the middle of the Legion of Honor's Porcelain Gallery that share overarching themes of dining and nature in addition to addressing socioeconomic inequality, corporate power, and habitat encroachment and conservation. The works incorporate Bay Area landmarks and wildlife while also drawing inspiration directly from surrounding permanent-collection objects on view, such as a mid-eighteenth-century Chelsea porcelain potpourri in the shape of a dovecote. In keeping with the artist's previous political statements, the exhibition confronts visitors with issues such as socioeconomic inequality and environmental encroachment and conservation.
