Maxi-Sketching: Mixing Media and Memorabilia

SEE EVENT DETAILS
MAXI-SKETCHING: Mixing Media and Memorabilia
Maximalism in art is all about excess and the idea that more is more. We will put this idea into practice by creating maxi-sketches on location. A maxi-sketch is a collage of multiple sketches of the same place organized on a single page. The “building block” sketches can have multiple viewpoints, different scales and perspectives, and little bits of memorabilia (ticket stubs, receipts, coffee rings, etc.) added in to fill the page. We will play with different ways to connect sketches, experiment with scale and line thickness, and let go of our preconceived notions about size and proportion.
INSTRUCTOR: Patricia Chow
Patricia is an artist and urban sketcher from Los Angeles. She has taught workshops and seminars on color theory, art and language, and Chinese calligraphy. She is also the managing editor of Drawing Attention, the official monthly zine of the Urban Sketchers organization. In her spare time she works as a community college institutional researcher.
