Lily Kiara, J.R.Rhodes and Blue Ocean Collective at Red Rock Coffee

On Friday, 15 July, patrons of the intimate listening room at Red Rock Coffee in Mountain View, CA, are treated to a trio of warm, soulful performances that is sure to leave an imprint.
Singer-songwriter Lily Kiara (Amsterdam, Netherlands) plays folky vignettes and stories which hook the listener into rapt attention. Her melodies carry a melancholic undertone and she performs her repertoire with an engaging poetic stillness. This is Kiara’s second US tour. In the Netherlands, she has opened for Duke Garwood (Mark Lanegan) and one of the fathers of the American folk movement - Eric Anderson. She has also played in numerous European cities and in Australia. Lily Kiara's new album, Fishing in the Field, releases on Zip Records this summer.
Seattle-based JR Rhodes' musical journey has taken her to places that are as personal as private dreams and as universal as ancient prayers. Her strong, richly resonant voice is complemented by lyrics that are emotionally revealing and gracefully poetic. She combines elements of jazz, folk and pop, and grounds her melodies in solid songcraft even as they soar into otherworldly atmospheres.
The Blue Ocean Collective is comprised of four Bay Area songwriters Luna Taylor, Josh Beemish, Sean Cody and Rozanne Gewaar. Revel in the beauty of Luna's nuanced vocal layers, tap along to Josh's banjo rhythms, light up with the twinkle in Sean's eye before his slide guitar takes it away - and oh! those harmonies!
