After getting her start as a backing vocalist for '00s boy band B2K, Aiko's breakthrough came with her 2011 mixtape Sailing Soul(s). Aiko released her major-label debut album, Souled Out, on September 9, 2014. On September 22, 2017, she released her second studio album Trip. On March 6, 2020, she released her third studio album, Chilombo, which earned Aiko three Grammy Award nominations, including Album of the Year.
