Come boogie with Alt-Rock, Funk and Soul Band

*JELLY BREAD*

*NO SMALL CHILDREN*

*JELLY BREAD*
Jelly Bread’s musical alchemy blends a dash of alt-rock with soul and funk, yet is thoroughly steeped in Rock-Americana. The band’s chameleonic playlist is highlighted by dual vocals, four part harmonies, in-the-pocket drum and bass grooves, swampy lap steel guitar, dirt under the fingernails guitar licks, and take-’em-to-church organ that is downright appetizing. Jelly Bread has emerged with a high-energy calling card that melds elements of desert twang and the urban tones of funk & rock, balanced by exceptional songwriting and storytelling. Jelly Bread has been delving into more extensive touring this past year. This past year, Jelly Bread has been tapped to perform opening duties for the likes of Robert Cray, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Dragon Smoke (members of Galactic), The Motet, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, Lukas Nelson and the Promise of the Real, Pimps of Joytime, Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds and performed on a bill featuring Bruce Hornsby and Railroad Earth. The band has appeared at premiere festivals to include Joshua Tree, Strawberry and High Sierra Music Festivals. Over the course of the 2013 summer, in between touring, Jelly Bread spent time recording at Imirage Sound Lab with Tom Gordon who has worked with the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Collective Soul, Dr. Dre, Boyz II Men, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, among many others. After months of dedication, the band emerged with a their latest EP titled “Lessons Learned”.

The EP, which includes the head-nodding, signature energetic funk and rock soul listeners have come to expect from Jelly Bread, maintains the honest storytelling of the more Americana influences Jelly Bread has been rooted in since its inception.

*NO SMALL CHILDREN*

“I was struck not only by their musicianship but by how well they engage an audience. Lisa and Joanie are a powerful pair of front women” -Alice Bag Razorcake Mag

“It’s not unusual for kids to wear a T-shirt to school with their favorite band on it. But at this school., that T-shirt may also have a picture of their teacher — actually, three of their teachers.” NPR –Secret Lives of Teachers, 2014.

Three teachers walk into a bar, onto the stage, plug their instruments in and then.… they melt your face. No Small Children is in the process of recording a new single that is being produced by the legendary, Bob Marlette (Rob Zombie, Black Sabbath, Filter, etc…). The song is anticipated to released in October 2016. They released their third album, “Hold Tight, I’m Flying”, in July 2015. Produced by Lisa Pimentel and mixed by Bob Marlette, this album is heavier and more complex, but just as bold and unapologetic as their first two, “Trophy Wife” and “Dear Youth”. NSC’s animated, edgy and break-neck live show both invites you in and calls you out, all while you sing along to the fresh, yet familiar, refrains of their carefully constructed songs. Their glamorous matching dresses and bona fide command of the stage will have you leaving at the end of the night a little hoarse, with a smile, and a warm fuzzy feeling. No Small Children is an all-girl band, or as they call themselves, a band. They were born on the playground in the spring of 2012. Elementary school-teachers by day, guitarist and singer Lisa Pimentel and drummer Nicola Berlinsky decided to start the band while covering recess duty. Three months later they had an EP, countless shows behind them and an east coast tour booked. By October 2013, bass player and singer Joanie Pimentel had moved to Los Angeles to join the group. With all three teaching at the same school, lunch breaks became band meetings, after-school times became rehearsals and holidays were reserved for touring. In 2014, NSC released their LP, “Trophy Wife”, toured both east and west coasts and played three shows at SXSW. In 2015, along with their frequent California shows, tour plans include Colorado, the Midwest, and East Coast. These ladies eat, live and breathe music, and you can feel it in their songs. They create it, perform it, and then pass their love of it onto the next generation of music lovers. Soon to be playing at a big theatre near you.
