ICEE HOT returns to the Public Works Loft on September 13 with SEVEN DAVIS JR, PENDER STREET STEPPERS, and ROCHE.
LA-based SEVEN DAVIS JR. has been making waves in underground house music circles, most notably with his recent releases on the Apron and Classic labels. His low-slung party tracks sound a bit like if Prince, Moodymann, and George Clinton were stranded on the Mothership with a pound of weed and decided to make some sweaty, slappin' house tunes. This is his SF debut, so don't miss your first chance to catch this up-and-coming artist in the cozy confines of the PW loft.
Joining Mr. Davis on the bill are Vancouver's PENDER STREET STEPPERS, who are a part of the on-fire MOOD HUT label. Their breezy, feel-good take on disco-inflected house has something of an experimental bent, and occasionally recalls some of Arthur Russell's more dancefloor-oriented moments. With Mood Hut quickly becoming a buy-on-sight label, the young collective behind it has lots of well-respected DJs talking, and the Pender Street Steppers are an integral part of its success and refreshing vision. This will also be the SF debut for the duo - we don't recommend missing it.
Last but not least, we've invited SF-based hardware wizard ROCHE to celebrate his upcoming ICEE HOT 12" by playing a very special LIVE set for us. Those of us familiar with Roche's live performances can attest to the swirlingly hypnotic nature of his immersive live sets, so we're confident that he'll be taking things to another level. His fantastic new record, "Depths" / "Seers," will be out on ICEE HOT in September, and copies should be available for sale at the show.
ICEE guys SHAWN, WILL, and GHOSTS ON TAPE will also be on hand, and LOW LIMIT will be cheering on the festivities in spirit.
