Artist reception Sat, April 27, 1-3pm; Exhibition April 27 - June 1
The City of Pleasanton's Harrington Gallery, located inside the Firehouse Arts Center, presents the 9th annual Fresh Works juried exhibition, which features both emerging and established artists who reside or work in the greater Bay Area. The exhibition will be on view to the public from April 27 through June 1 during regular gallery hours, as well as during intermissions for ticket holders to Firehouse Arts Center Theater shows and concerts.
Diverse and vibrant, this year's Fresh Works IX presents 66 works by 52 artists working in a variety of media, including watercolor, oil painting, mosaic, photography, video, oil, colored pencil and sculpture. The works were chosen from a whopping 430 submissions from 164 different artists.
With plenty of new faces to celebrate, this year's show also features a number of returning artists whose names may be familiar to Bay Area arts fans: Jenny Balisle, Christine Bourg, David Casterson, HyunJung Chae, Thomas Cory, Harlan Crowder, Judith Feins, Sarah Harrington, Angela Johal, Martin Lasack, Carolyn Lord, Ruth Miller, David Peterson, Lisa Rigge, Talita Saussuna, and Lynne Shephard,
This year's professional juror is Virginia Tominia, who has worked as a fine art consultant in Atlanta and California since 1999. Virginia holds a BA in Art History with a focus on contemporary art, a minor degree in sculpture and philosophy, and has exhibited her own work both state-side and internationally.
RECEPTION: Artists' Reception and Awards Ceremony in the gallery on Saturday, April 27, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. The public is welcome to come explore the works, meet and chat with the artists, and enjoy light refreshments. A donation of $5.00 is suggested.
YOUNG @ ART: "Fresh Paint!" is a special class connected to the exhibit for young people ages 5-11. Thursday, May 9, from 4:30-5:45 p.m. Register at
