The Yerba Buena neighborhood of downtown San Francisco is between Market and Harrison and 2nd and 5th Streets. Known for the Yerba Buena Gardens, which is a renowned public open space that serves as the anchor for the community, the neighborhood has a high concentration of museums and cultural institutions in the area.
3rd Thursdays and Culture For Community
The Yerba Buena neighborhood's cultural institutions have formed a new Alliance offering special themed programs on two Thursdays in 2019. Culture for Community, a unique group of Yerba Buena district institutions, will open their doors for free on March 21 and September 19, 2019. In addition to providing free access to their regular arts and culture programming, each free day will feature programs focused on an issue of special importance to the Bay Area community. Together they bring you free or discounted entry to experience all the neighborhood has to offer. With over 12 different neighborhood partners offering top notch programming, exhibitions and performance art, 3rd Thursdays is bringing together the Yerba Buena community.
In 2019, we are excited to partner with the SFMOMA and an expanded collaborative partner list for March 21st and September 19th for a Super 3rd Thursday! In addition to providing free access to their regular arts and culture programming, each free day will feature programs focused on an issue of special importance to the Bay Area community.
