Come celebrate the long-awaited release of L.A.-based artist/provocateur Dorian Wood's magnum opus, Rattle Rattle! Four years in the making, Rattle Rattle is an epic collection of original doomsday-themed songs that form one strong, continuous piece (think Scott Walker re-doing Brian Wilson's Smile), featuring over 60 musicians! On this special evening, Dorian will perform songs from Rattle Rattle accompanied by a select group of musicians featured on the album. Kicking off the evening are SF favorites Carletta Sue Kay, L.A.-based performance artist Rafael Esparza, and local divas Ben Woozy and Rheal Tea.

DORIAN WOOD is "armed with a vocal charisma that would befit a preacher and an experimental streak that would make avant-gardists swoon" (WNYC Culture). A wunderkind with a headstrong DIY discipline, Dorian has brought his emotionally-charged performances to concert halls, museums, music venues and performance spaces throughout the US, Mexico and Europe, with a voice that channels the skill and ferocity of such auteurs as Scott Walker, Nina Simone, Nick Cave and Tom Waits. His debut album, BOLKA, received wide critical acclaim for its impeccable merging of folk, soul, Bulgarian choral music and experimental music. His follow-up EP, Black Pig Suite, featured members of the L.A. experimental orchestra Killsonic, of which Dorian was a principal collaborator and performer for 3 years.

For the past 3 years, Dorian has been working on his magnum opus, Rattle Rattle. An epic collection of original doomsday-themed songs that form one strong, continuous piece, Rattle Rattle incorporates over 60 musicians, including a 45-member choir assembled by Dorian himself, The Difficult Women, as well as guitarist Michael Corwin (Correatown), bassist Sebastian Steinberg (Soul Coughing, Fiona Apple), trumpetist Daniel Rosenboom (PLOTZ!, Josh Groban) and members of Killsonic, and featuring duets with Angela Correa (Correatown, Les Shelleys), Leah Harmon (Petrojvic Blasting Company), Eddika Organista (El Haru Kuroi) and renowned French artist Nina Savary.

CARLETTA SUE KAY vocalist Randy Walker is blessed with a four octave vocal range, and writes songs to melt the hearts of even the most cynical. Hailing from a So-Cal hellhole. . . full of meth, Mexican mafia, the KKK and Hells Angels, a liberal education in down and out comes through the music unashamedly. Walker's cousin and band namesake, Carletta served jail time for attempting to fire bomb her ex-boyfriend's apartment. Renowned curmudgeon Stephin Merritt of Magnetic Fields says "I love Carletta's singing. She has an androgyny similar to Nina Simone. . . but without the bitterness."

Over the last two years Carletta Sue Kay has been thrilled to share bills with the likes of Kurt Vile, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, Girls, The Fresh & Onlys and Kelley Stoltz. After a successful tour of Europe and SXSW 2012, Walker can be heard on The Magnetic Field's newest record Love at the Bottom of the Sea (Merge Records) and on an up-coming new project by Sonny Smith of Sonny and The Sunsets.

Carletta Sue Kay will break your heart.
