My work blends the stimulation of external life and the stillness of our inner world. The process for each piece is long, taking months to a year to complete. Each work transforms me from photographer to painter to storyteller.
The first stage is creating an original photo or digital art piece. In the second stage I deconstruct this work through digital pattern making. I then enlarge and hand copy or print the patterns, and then by using gel pens and markers, recreate the image. Along with the original image comes hundreds of scenes and symbols that depict the social and political as well as the surreal.
I hope to invite the viewer to get involved in and get lost in the micro universes of the work, discovering the many stories that lie within the bigger whole.

The small format of Toscano’s work, combined with its meticulous detailing, challenges us to stop and look closer, creating a moment of intimacy and vulnerability. The artist chooses this small format intentionally: this is his way of asking the observer to slow down and contemplate. He is playing with the idea that there is a close relation between high velocity and forgetfulness; between slowness and memories. When in front of his paintings, one feels as if one is taking a peak through a magnifying glass into a miniature world, one that is inhabited by dreamy creatures that could fit in the palm of our hand. The artist’s reflection on life and society is conveyed in the rigid zoomorphic, human and mechanical figures; trapped in a world of the spectacular geometry of magical elements, sometimes fantastic but also absolutely symbolic. He speaks about the need to function within a subtle balance of structure and liberty, affirming his profound commitment to freedom while revealing what destroys it.

Camila Valdez (1984) is an industrial designer and artist from Buenos Aires, Argentina who blends both of her professions to create hyper realistic leggy dessert sculptures in table-top and human scale size. Her sculptures are inspired by the secret esthetics of everyday products. Objects, in this case desserts, express their feelings to Camila through their colors, shapes and styles. She says “If a Cupcake is good looking eye-candy, it’s saying come and get me!”

Born in the city of Mexico in 1982,Meza found his artistic vocation at an early age. At four years old he showed restlessness and created a world of personas around him to play with during his childhood. As time passed, alongside changing emotions, his work shows evidence of the entering and leaving of new sensations and observations: the silence, words spoken, sweating bodies, closing
fingers to form a first. All gesture and posture represented in the union of fragileness and force. The quietness is the road to inspiration, the chaos pushing forth creation, and with age he enters the mute world of art and admiration of artists: painters, sculptors, filmmakers, and writers that inculcate the sense of aesthetic and study of mental functions, with its fragmentations, and expectations.

Talavera-Ballón is a Peruvian-born painter based in San Francisco, CA. A disciple of acclaimed artist Luis Palao Berastain, he skillfully captures the essence of ordinary people’s lives and their surroundings across diverse regions and cultures of the Americas. He explores themes that highlight important social and cultural aspects of the people and places he has encountered. His work is also a tribute to immigrants like himself who left their home countries in search of new horizons.
Talavera-Ballon has exhibited in several art galleries, museums and universities across Perú, Chile, Argentina and the US including the U.S. Embassy, Lima, Peru; Museo Qoricancha, Cuzco; Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, Cuzco; the Peruvian Embassy, Washington, DC; the Latino Art Museum, Pomona, CA; Galería de la Raza, San Francisco, CA, Holy Names University, Oakland, CA, and UC Berkeley. He has has been selected for the San Francisco Arts Commission 2015-2016 Pre-Qualified Artist Pool and as a finalist in ArtSpan’s 2015 San Francisco Open Studios Guide Cover Competition. He has also participated in several live painting events such as Friday Nights at the de Young Museum and Art Beats SF, and his work is part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Arequipa, Peru. A feature on Univision of his latest painting series “Mujeres Luz” recently won Emmy for the Arts and Entertainment category.
