SEE EVENT DETAILS
Opening Jan 12, 5-7pm, Show open daily, 9am-4:30pm, Jan 12 through March 9

Join us at the Reclaimed Room Friday January 12, 5 - 7pm, for our next art opening and the first show of 2018, CONFIGURATIONS; Three Artists Assemble Themselves. This show features puppets, sculpture, jewelry and furniture, all deeply crafted from 100% salvaged material.

The three artists, Francesca Borgatta, Charles Foss, and Miles Epstein, each bring work with personality, humor, and the recognition that a long studio practice will always reveal new surprises. Especially when the work is assembled in a new context and new configurations.

Francesca Borgatta has been building puppets since the 1970's, having apprenticed with Bread and Puppet Theater in New York. Since then she has lived a life full of dance, drama, and puppetry. She comes to the Reclaimed Room from the East Bay, where she works at the East Bay Depot of Creative Reuse.

Charles Foss, also known as C.H.U.K., brings to the gallery work from his 'Landfill Interception Project', specifically his 'Fauna' series. From his website "..an exploration of inanimate evolutionary improbabilities, using common, everyday items which have been deemed useless, cast aside, and abandoned." Charles's work is exuberant, funny, and dark.

Miles Epstein collects wine corks, and has glued them together with strips of tightly rolled cardboard and strips of colored paper to make a series of unusual cafe tables. He also presents new window work using acrylic sheets dressed with colored and tumbled glass.

This show will be in the gallery through March 9. The Reclaimed Room Gallery is housed inside of Building REsources, San Francisco's best salvage/scrap/art yard. Open seven days a week, 9am - 4:30pm. Worth a visit! 701 Amador Street, down by the bay at the mouth if Islais Creek.
