Carnaval San Francisco, the multi-cultural two-day festival and grand parade that takes place over Memorial Day weekend, will host a massive free Mardi Gras celebration from 6-10 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25 that will span more than 20 venues throughout San Francisco's Mission District.
Venues participating in the event include Kimbara, Blondie's Bar, Laszlo, Make-Out Room, El Rio, Bissap Baobab, and Evil Eye, among others. All are welcome to meet friends, family and neighbors in the heart of San Francisco's Latino cultural district and party hop from venue to venue, enjoying live samba drummers, salsa dancers winding their way through the crowds, lively music, vibrant costumes and much more. Attendees are also invited to wear costumes, masks, and beads in celebration of the holiday.
The parties are free and open to the public, with a percentage of sales from each venue donated back to CANA, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that funds much of the artistry behind the main Carnaval San Francisco parade and festival in May. Donations can be made online or on the day of the events.
