CatchLight Visual Storytelling Summit 'Seeing Truths'

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Amid historic distrust and AI-generated images, CatchLight 2024 Visual Storytelling Summit brings together creatives using photography, art, film, and digital media to address this crisis of truth.

The world is facing a crisis of truth. Partisanship and distrust are at historic highs. The rise of synthetic images is undermining our ability to trust what we see. If we have, in fact, entered a post-truth era, what is the role of visual storytellers and journalists to help usher a return to critical thinking and cooperation?

Join us at the 2024 CatchLight Visual Storytelling Summit to hear from visual leaders who are using photography, art, film, and technology to tackle this information crisis. See how visual works can reveal deeper truths to viewers at the individual, community, and even societal levels.

Speakers will include Anas Aremeyaw Anas, Ghanaian investigative journalist, one of the laureates of the 13th Carmignac Photojournalism Award; Pancho Bernasconi, Vice President of Global News at Getty Images; Ashara Ekundayo, curator and founder of Artist As First Responder; Adama Delphine Fawundu, multi-disciplinary visual artist and 2023 CatchLight Global Fellow; Alessia Glaviano, Head of Global PhotoVogue and Director of the Photo Vogue Festival; Keith W. Jenkins, Vice President of Visuals and Music Strategy at NPR;Azu Nwagbogu, founder, and director of African Artists' Foundation (AAF); Yesica Prado, multimedia journalist and 2019 CatchLight Local Fellow; Tabitha Soren, fine art photographer; Daro Sulakauri, Georgian photojournalist and 2023 CatchLight Global Fellow; and Phillip Toledano, a conceptual artist. The summit will be presented by Paul Henderson, social justice attorney and art advocate.
