D.B. Maroon, author, anthropologist, and CEO, will engage audiences in two remarkable events this January.
On January 15th, Martin Luther King Day, she will give a reading from her debut book, "Black Lives, American Love," at the Madrone Art Bar in San Francisco. This event, part of Motown on Mondays, is scheduled from 5pm to 7pm.
On January 17th, D.B. Maroon will present at UC Santa Cruz. Starting at 3:30 pm in Humanities Room 210, this session is an opportunity to hear and engage in Dr. Maroon's work. Contact

D.B. Maroon is the author of Black Lives, American Love, a book of hard-hitting essays on American culture, race, and the path to reconciliation within. She is an author, anthropologist, and speaker.
As an applied anthropologist, D.B. Maroon has designed and improved social good programs nationally that have impacted millions of lives for the better. She draws on ethnographic research, human-centered design thinking, behavioral economics, and asset-based development practices to amplify solutions that matter.
Currently, Dr. Maroon is the CEO of a research and engagement institute focused on equitable urban revitalization. She is proud to be part of creating genuine shifts in equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice as part of her ongoing applied research and practice. D.B. Maroon holds a Ph.D. in anthropology from UC Santa Cruz.
