One of L.A.'s newest punk bands are actually from Greece. Barb Wire Dolls were playing bars and festivals in their home country when KROQ DJ Rodney Bingenheimer caught wind of them. In late 2010 they came to L.A., sold out the Roxy and decided to stay. They aren't re-inventing punk, but they are wheezing new, whiskey-scented life into the genre. Influenced by bands like New York Dolls, Sex Pistols and X, lead Singer Isis Queen a sight to see: a modern-day trashy Joan Jett. The group released their first album Slit in 2012 (engineered by Steve Albini) and have their second, Rhythm Method, on the way. (AC)
