Baraka Moon charts a musical odyssey between two master musicians, Stephen Kent and Sukhawat Ali Khan. The band’s first orbit began in 2008 when these musicians played together on the eclipse of a full moon. With the utterance of the word “Baraka,” the Sufi word for “Blessing,” the band was created. Their original music ignites from the ancient Qawaali Sufi trance songs, Indian classical ragas, Middle Eastern overtones, African percussion, layered with Australian Aboriginal didgeridoo. Their CD “Baraka Moon” records the band’s first ecstatic leap into Sufi trance-dance grooves.
