On November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, San Francisco joins more than 25 cities worldwide in a powerful global art installation: 25 Red Shoes, a visual tribute to women and girls who have lost their lives to gender-based violence.
This community-driven exhibit unites activists, artists, students, and neighbors to transform public space into a place of remembrance, solidarity, and awareness.
Each pair of red shoes--donated and painted by volunteers--represents a woman whose story was silenced.
Inspired by the vision of Mexican artist Elina Chauvet, and organized locally by Iranian Women in Network (IWIN), this installation reminds us that violence knows no borders--and neither does our collective resistance.
Join us as we honor this global day of awareness.
Join us in standing with women in Iran, Afghanistan, the U.S., Latin America, and around the world.
Together we turn shared pain into shared action.
