Fall is officially here, with delicious carbs, boozy drinks and celebrations to be had. This month, welcome the cold season with an array of excellent events, from a female-led talk to a bake sale like no other…

October 19th: Sip some tea

Beer and wine festivals are happening every other weekend these days, but a classy tea affair? That’s something you’d want to put on your calendar. Held at the Palace of Fine Arts, the festivals will host tasting and presentations by multiple high-quality tea brands, and you walk away home with a free porcelain cup! October 19th: Get hoppy with Drake’s Dealership

No one needs a special reason to go to the very happening Dealership in Oakland, but this Saturday event is a bonus: 15 local breweries, each tasked with crafting a beer from a pre-selected random ingredients like ginger, juniper berries or pineapple. Happening from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m, it’s not only a drinking event, but also a competition, with local judges who know a thing or two about good beer. Advanced tickets are $30 buy here or $40 at the door.

October 26th: Get posh with Pinots and Plaid

Local influencer and consultant Emily Martin is hoping to start a tradition with her first-annual Pinots and Plaid event, held at the historic Hibernia Bank Building. In the program is wine tasting from over 20 winemakers, bites from Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese, B Patisserie, Ginger Elizabeth Chocolates and more, and a VIP lounge with, you guessed it, caviar. All month long: Eat pasta at Great Gold

In the space Foxsister used to reside, now lives Great Gold, a completely new restaurant by the same owners. Chef Brandon Kirksey, who previously had worked at Flour + Water, is bringing all his pasta skills to the Italian menu, and the cozy atmosphere couldn’t be more perfect for the changing seasons.

October 4th: Learn to cook street Indian food

Accessible, fun Indian food is taking off, thanks to new books like Indian-ish. Get on with the trend and attend a street food cooking class, where you’ll mix fritters, spice up chutney and make kebabs. The class is lead by Meghna Agarwal, an experienced teacher, and the Civic Kitchen Cooking School couldn’t be any more welcoming. Tickets are $145, available here.

October 7th: Be there or beignet

The popular celebrity French Soul Food hangout Brenda’s will be opening a new location at 4045 Broadway, near 41st Street in Oakland.

October 8th: Talk about Tartine

Tartine: A Classic Revisited, is a new must-have cookbook by Liz Prueitt, the woman behind the Tartine kingdom. Pineapple Collaborative, an organization dedicated to promoting women in the food industry, is hosting a talk with Prueitt to celebrate the book, at Dandelion Chocolate’s new factory. Led by Ellen Fort, Food Editor of Sunset Magazine, the event will include a talk, nibbles from Noosh, and 20% off the book’s retail price.Tickets are $25, available here.

October 10th: Learn how to make a cocktail already

Those New Year’s resolutions are around the corner, and you know ‘learn how to make a good drink’ will be one of them. Get ahead of the curve with a fall cocktail class by the Nob Hill bar Seven Stills. Located at the Stanford Court Hotel, the bar is hosting a class focusing on two cocktails; a spicy rum drink and a mezcal sour. Play with pumpkin puree, infusions and cool tools, and walk away with some hands-on, holiday-appropriate skills. Tickets are $50, available here.

October 12: One Day with Bay Area’s Top Tastemakers

The popular San Francisco Street Food Festival is back for its 10th year. In addition to James Beard award winners they will be inviting Brazilian chefs to offer up delicious eats. Get your tickets ahead of time here.

October 12th: Get yourself a new coffee mug

Fellow, the Mission-based coffee purveyor, just launched a new slick to-go mug. To mark the occasion, they’re hosting a launch event at the Fellow Store + Playground. October 13th: Buy all the pastries for a good cause

Imagine a carby heaven of baked goods, brought to you by Zuni Cafe and Guittard Chocolate. The pastries are from prominent restaurants in the Bay and beyond; Atelier Crenn, Che Fico, Chez Paniesse and Jane are only a few names, alongside Konbi, the super-star croissant-famous restaurant from Los Angeles. October 16th: Don’t choose between dumplings and pizza

The Pie Guys are breaking all the rules, by hosting a cooking class of pizza-inspired dumplings. Make sausage and pepperoni pizza dumplings and the chicken corn dumplings, and savor them with the restaurant’s house-made chili sauce, vodka sauce, and cilantro lime crema.
